I’m not sure what exactly it is that draws me to this photograph but ever since I transferred it from my camera I can’t help but stop and glance at it when I am going through my photo library . So today I opened it and tried to figure out why I feel this shot is so special.(thats my criteria before uploading)

Now the obvious answer would be because it is a photograph of my Sissy, that alone makes it special but that alone doesn’t mean it gets uploaded.

After staring at it for a while, I realized that somehow, on this day, I was able to capture a look, capture a moment that is only about Sissy.

Having 3 pure white cats gives a person many, many, many photographs of white cats in a photo library. LOL I have at least 20 old hard drives that are full of photographs and guaranteed 60 percent of those are of white cats.

So as I am rolling through all of these pictures and all of a sudden something catches my eye it’s a reason to stop. My first reaction felt something like “hey, I know her” . I love when photographs do that, allow you to recognize not just a face but someone’s soul as well.

This shot of Sissy may be just my own thing but when I look at it I see this slide show in my mind of memories over these past 9 years. This look is for me, she doesn’t look at anyone else the way that she looks at me. It’s a look that I had to earn over the years and one I am honored to receive.
My Sissy just doesn’t like to be social, not with cats or people, well, just one person, me. She is the only Mama cat I have ever known that wanted me to see her babies after she had them, she was so proud of them and when I would hold them she would just purr so loud. She never hid them or even tried to. For me, earning the trust of an animal like this is a pretty big deal. Feeling loved by her has been a highlight in my life.

So, that is what this photograph does for me and so it met the criteria. LOL

Sissy is Mikey’s litter mate, and this photograph was taken through a window where she seldom ever has enough nerve to sit. (she stays up in my room usually) I was in the garden and she wanted to see I guess and when I looked up I saw this incredibly warm face staring back at me.

I processed the photo in Topaz Clean 3. (LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this plugin)

For me, this is impressive, because it's like a ghost cat of an abandoned house :D You know, sort of ethereal and very knowing. Though the more I look at it, the more the warmth comes out :)

That's a gorgeous look and in a way, it reminds me of two different cats. (Your pictures and descriptions always inspire to share my own cat stories. :giggle:)

At my old neighbor's house (she was my babysitter when I was little as well), she had this little cat that came and went as she pleased. Unfortunately, she never spayed the cat and she wound up pregnant. She was kind of shy back when I knew her and would hide from anyone but me and she led me straight to the box where her kitten was. She didn't mind me holding him either.

Your description of Sissy's personality also reminds me of my own cat, Maggie. She was always super skittish and shy. She was pretty but she didn't really care much for anyone but my step-mother and a bit toward my dad. Since the passing of our old female cat (complete overlord/dictator of the house) and upon moving, she really came out of her shell. She now is extremely friendly toward me, following me around often, and in general just being much more affectionate with me. It's a treat since she's just this gorgeous cat.

I'm afraid my Sissy is kept shy by an overlord/dictator also...which would be Mikey her brother. Before Mikey was neutered, he was 4 years old and just mean toward other cats. He has always been a love bug to people but he would literally try to kill my other cats. He is deaf and could not hear their cries so he wouldn't let go until I broke them up. It started when he was around 2 1/2 years old and so I put up with playing the referee for a while until I got him neutered (fixed his little wagon). He is a totally different cat, he now plays Daddy to them all except Sissy. She has not forgotten his evil ways. He has been neutered for 5 years but she still won't believe him. So , she stays in my room and hangs out very close to me at all times. Sissy also had an injury when she was just 4 months old and I nursed her through it and I think that is where the bond she and I have all began. And saving her from Mikey helped I'm sure. LOL Thank you, I am always happy when you share your stories with me. Kisses for Maggie.

Poor Sissy. I'm glad that Mikey's a bit better now that he's been neutered. We had our cats all neutered at an earlier age than that and removed their front claws. It saved a lot of trouble as well, though none of the three cats ever got along. It would often be two against one and then those two would turn on each other. Maggie doesn't like her brother too much either. But I'm glad that everything's a tad better. I'll be sure to let Maggie know she's appreciated.
